Iowa's Game Suspended After Four Innings

ST. PAUL, MN - The Iowa Cubs (14-25) had their game suspended after the fourth inning in a 3-3 tie with the St. Paul Saints (19-22), Sunday at CHS Field.

Iowa got the scoring started in the second inning, taking a 2-0 lead on RBI singles from Ian Miller and Dee Gordon. The Saints cut the lead in half when Mark Contreras doubled in Drew Maggi in the home half of the inning.

Iowa tacked a third run on in the third inning when Vance Vizcaino hit a two-out RBI double. In the final frame the two teams played, St. Paul pushed across two runs with a Brent Rooker solo home run and a ground out from Maggi.

Iowa and St. Paul will play the final five innings of today's game on August 17 when the two teams meet again at CHS Field. The game scheduled for August 17 will be played after today's game is completed and will be a seven-inning matchup.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Joe Biagini threw two innings of one-run ball for Iowa today, allowing four hits while striking out one.

- Trayce Thompson hit a triple for Iowa to leadoff the third inning today, his first triple since July 1, 2019, against the Toledo Mud Hens as a member of the Columbus Clippers.

Iowa has the day off tomorrow and will return to Principal Park to play seven games in six days against the first-place Omaha Storm Chasers beginning on Tuesday at 6:38. For more information and tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
