
Iowa Energy Improve to 3-0 with Home Opening Night Win

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (3-0) won 85-83 over the Grand Rapids Drive (1-2) Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Energy were led by Lazeric Jones with 15 points, two rebounds and six assists. Cartier Martin added 14 points and nine rebounds. The Drive were led by Devin Ebanks with a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds.
It was a close first quarter to start the game, with three lead changes and eight ties. The Energy scored 16 of their 30 first quarter points in the paint. Rick Jackson came off the bench to score eight points to lead the Energy. Iowa held a 30-26 lead after the first quarter. Grand Rapids pulled away in the second quarter outscoring the Energy 27-13 to hold a 53-43 advantage at halftime.
The Drive were able to extend the lead to 14 points during the third quarter before the Energy began to chip away at the lead. Cartier Martin led the Energy comeback with seven points in the quarter to trim the lead to five heading into the fourth down 67-62. The Energy continued their run and would regain the lead midway through the fourth quarter. The two teams would go on to exchange the lead seven more times. The Energy held a five-point lead with 1:04 to play. Grand Rapids would attempt a desperation three-pointer as time expired for the win, but it was no good and the Energy won 85-83.
The Energy are back in action at home Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
