Westchester Knicks Stay Undefeated, Light into Canton Charge
November 21, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks (4-0), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, remain undefeated in a 86-85 win over the Canton Charge (0-3) in its first road game of the 2015-16 season.
The Charge struck first and controlled the majority of the first half, never giving up the lead in the second quarter. Westchester gave up eight points to turnovers in the first and five in the second, also struggling with the shot from downtown by hitting just 1-of-8 through the first half. Canton would hold on to the lead after the first two quarters, the score 54-51.
The third quarter was an ugly one for both teams, Canton mustering up just 12 points, Westchester only slightly less unimpressive with 16 to squeak away with a one point advantage heading to the final quarter.
The teams went head-to-head in the fourth but Westchester charged ahead later in the quarter, with center Jordan Bachynski providing eight points in a row to widen the Knicks' lead. Canton kept it close with several one-possession moments in the final three minutes, but Westchester held on and would go on to win by one point, 86-85.
Jordan Bachynski finished with a big night for Westchester, pacing the Knicks with a game-high 21 points, also tallying eight rebounds and six blocks. Sean Marshall contributed 17 points and six rebounds to the win, while Wesley Saunders supplied 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Canton was led by forward Nick Minnerath who finished the night with 20 points and seven rebounds. Guard Quinn Cook delivered 16 points for the Charge, also adding five assists and two rebounds.
The Westchester Knicks will go for 5-0 as they return home this Tuesday, Nov. 24 for a 7:00 p.m. match-up, taking on the Idaho Stampede for the first time in team history. The game will be broadcast live on MSG and YouTube.
