Iowa Cubs Wives Raise Money for Homeless Shelter

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Cubs wives went to bat for the homeless earlier this month and raised $21,524.26 for the Central Iowa Homeless Shelter. With the funds, new mattresses and bedding was purchased and the additional money can be used at the shelter's discretion.

The new mattresses will be delivered to the shelter located at 205 15th Street in Des Moines at 4 p.m. today. Tony Timm, executive director of the shelter, was presented with a check on the field at yesterday's Iowa Cubs game.

From August 4-11 Iowa Cubs wives collected cash donations, sold t-shirts, hosted a breakfast with the team and had a mystery ball fundraiser during the Cubs games.
