Game 129 | Aug. 24, 2010, 7:05 pm CDT | The Dell Diamond | Round Rock, TX
News Radio 1000 KTOK, RedHawks Radio Network | Play-by-Play: Jim Byers
RH Guillermo Moscoso (7-6, 5.38) vs. RH Brian Moehler (no record)
MAGIC NUMBER DROPS TO 11: The magic number for OKC to eliminate Albuquerque is 11. Albuquerque and New Orleans were rained out last night and will try to play 2 tonight at Isotopes park. Albuquerque's 5.5-game deficit matches the RedHawks' largest division lead this season, previously reached after a win July 15. OKC, Albuquerque and New Orleans have all had a game cancelled without the possibility of a makeup, so they will play 143 games barring further postponements.
IRIBARREN'S STREAK OVER: Hernan Iribarren went 0-for-4 last night, halting an 11-game hitting streak. Iribarren has hit safely in 16 of his last 18 games dating to Aug. 5, going 29-for-69 (.420) with 3 homers and 16 RBIs in that span. Since Aug. 5, Iribarren features the PCL's third-best batting average behind Iowa's Marquez Smith (.429) and Portland's Mike Baxter (.423). Iribarren has lifted his batting average from .240 to .270 in the last 18 games.
THREE STRAIGHT QUALITY STARTS: Derek Holland returned to Triple-A with a 6-inning no decision last night, allowing just a solo homer to Oswaldo Navarro. Holland has pitched 18.2 innings against Round Rock this year and allowed 2 runs, both on solo shots (Chris Shelton had the other). OKC starters have turned in 3 quality starts this series. Holland has 7 quality starts in 11 Triple-A outings.
PITCHING LEADERBOARD: The RedHawks maintain the PCL's best ERA at 3.83. They have allowed the fewest home runs (85) in either affiliated Triple-A league, but have surrendered 1 homer in 5 straight games. Each of the last 4 has been a solo shot. The only team to have more than a 2-homer game against the RedHawks is Iowa, which collected a pair of 3-homer games and one 4-homer contest in the season series.
ODDS AND ENDS: OKC improved to 4-14 on Monday with last night's win...the RedHawks have won 2 games in this series on homers in the top of the ninth inning, Alex Cora's yesterday to break a 4-4 tie and Hernan Iribarren's 2-run shot on Saturday to put the RedHawks in front 4-3...OKC is 18-18 in 1-run games and has won its last 3 such decisions.
