Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

GREENVILLE, SC - Kannapolis continued their remarkable streak on Thursday night at Fluor Field, winning their 12th game in a row, 7-3, over the Greenville Drive.

The Intimidators used 14 hits against three Greenville pitchers to cruise to their third straight victory over the Red Sox affiliate. Jon Gilmore and Luis Sierra led the charge with three hits each, while Eduardo Escobar drove in a pair.

Most of the damage was done early, with the Intimidators posting six runs in the first four innings. Escobar's two-out, two-RBI single in the second gave Kannapolis a 4-0 lead off of starter Brock Huntzinger (8-9).

James Albury (5-0) took his fifth win in his last five tries, working five shaky innings. The Australian right-hander allowed two unearned runs, but also walked five and fanned five in his time on the mound.

Alex Hassan hit an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Kannapolis lead to three, but Kenny Williams responded one inning later with a home run of his own, his fourth of the season.

Dan Albritton, Enrique Lechuga and Kyle Bellamy each pitched 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen, with the lone run coming against Albritton.

The game was delayed an hour and two minutes before first pitch due to wet weather in the area.

The win maintained the Intimidators six game lead over the West Virginia Power with 11 games remaining in the regular season. West Virginia picked up a 4-0 win in Bowling Green on Thursday night.
