August 27, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release
(Asheville, NC) - The Tourists and Grasshoppers were scheduled to play game three of their four-game series at McCormick Field Thursday night, but after a hard, intense thunderstorm, the playing field was ruled too wet to play. Thursday's game will be made up as part of a series-ending doubleheader Friday night, with game one beginning at 4:35 pm. Rain checks will NOT be honored for the doubleheader for tomorrow night's doubleheader, being that it will be followed by a Fireworks show. Rain checks from the 2009 season can be used for any of the final three home games against Lexington, September 1 through September 3.
The first game of the doubleheader will get underway at 4:35, and game two will begin at 7:05 pm; both games will be seven-inning contests. Game two will be followed by the final Asheville Savings Bank Fireworks show of the season.
The Tourists (37-19) and Grasshoppers will finish up their four-game series tomorrow; RHP Carlos Luna (0-0, 9.00) will make the start in game one, and RHP Kurt Yacko (2-1, 3.69) will make his first start of the season in game two.
Following the doubleheader, Asheville will head to Bowling Green for a three-game series against the Hot Rods beginning Saturday, August 29th before returning home for the final three regular season home games at McCormick Field, September 1-3. Tickets are still available for Friday's doubleheader and can be purchased by contacting the McCormick Field Box Office at (828) 258-0428. All 140 Tourists games can be heard live on the radio on 100.7 WRES FM or streaming online at www.theashevilletourists.com.
