Inferno lose 3-2 in SO

ESTERO, FLA. (Nov. 9, 2007)- The visiting Columbia Inferno (4-4-1-0, nine points) fell 3-2 in overtime to the Florida Everblades (5-3-0-0, 10 points) Friday night.

The Everblades scored the game's first goal when winger Mathieu Melanson scored his fifth goal of the season, beating Inferno goaltender Todd Ford on the power play at the 7:14 mark of the first period.

Inferno winger Daniel Sparre knotted the game at 1-1 when he converted a Brad Ralph pass and beat goalie Justin Peters for his team-leading eighth goal of the season. The goal came around eight minutes into the second frame.

Florida re-took the lead 4:23 into the third period when defenseman Ernie Hartlieb beat Ford for his second goal of the season. Inferno defenseman Patrick Wellar tallied his first of the season just three minutes later, knotting the game at 2-2 when he beat Peters with help from center Mac Faulkner and defenseman Todd Perry.

The Everblades ensured the game wouldn't go to the shootout when center Johnathan Lehun scored his third of the year at the 3:00 mark.

Ford finished with 29 saves on 32 shots, while Peterson stopped 25 of 27.
