Ice Pilots rally falls short in 4-3 loss

PENSACOLA, FL - New Ice Pilots Mike Sgroi scored a goal in his first game and goaltender John Daigneau made 41 saves but it wasn't enough as Texas scored three second period goals and held on for a 4-3 at the Pensacola Civic Center.

The Ice Pilots came out strong in the first period and took a 2-1 advantage on goals by Dan Sullivan on the power play and A.J. MacLean. McNabb scored for Texas in the first period.

The second period saw Texas take control as they out shot the Pilots 18-5 and Marco Rosa, Mark Fulton and Danick Bouchard scored to put Texas ahead 4-2.

Sgroi tallied a goal at 11:59 of the third to cut the lead to one, but Texas held on for the win behind 26 saves from Peter Aubry.
