Spokane Indians News Release
Spokane, WA -Despite another strong showing from their offense, the Indians couldn't overcome a shaky start from Victor Payano (0-1) and a season-high five errors, as Spokane dropped the opener of a three game series against the Bears 7-5.
Yakima came into the game with just one home run on the season, but Jae Yun Kim, Zach Jones, Garrett Weber, and Daniel Pulfer all went yard against Indians pitchers on the way to a twelve hit night for the Bears. Yakima starter Teo Gutierrez (2-0) allowed four runs in five innings, and the Bears bullpen backed up Gutierrez with four innings of two-hit relief.
The Indians offensive attack was led by Trever Adams who went 3-4 with an RBI, raising his average to a team-high .394 in the process. Hirotoshi Onaka delivered two triples in his first two trips to the plate, and Guillermo Pimentel continued his hot hitting with a 2-4 night. Newcomer Drew Robinson, who arrived in Spokane from Arizona today, got the start at third base and went 1-5 including an RBI groundout in the first inning.
Kyle Hendricks twirled two scoreless innings in relief and lefty Sam Robinson made his first appearance for the Indians in the ninth, setting down the side in order.
