Boise Hawks News Release
PASCO, Wash. - Tim Smalling went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, helping the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 5-3 victory over the Boise Hawks, before 2,718 fans at Gesa Stadium.
The win for Tri-City ended a Boise five-game win streak.
The hosts jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening inning, as both Jordan Ribera and Ryan Casteel drew bases loaded walks from Boise starter Jin-Young Kim, who lasted just one inning. Smalling's RBI double in the second pushed the Tri-City lead to 3-0.
The Hawks would get a Rafael Lopez RBI single in the third to make it 3-1, but could not get closer - having two runners thrown out at second trying to steal and a third runner gunned out a home plate trying to score to end an inning.
Reggie Golden went 3-for-3 in the loss for the Hawks, with Lopez and Travis Garcia each recording two hits.
The rubber game of the series is tomorrow night, with Willengton Cruz meeting Tyler Gagnon at 8:15 p.m. (MT)
