
Idaho Steelheads Release 2003-04 Regular Season Schedule

BOISE, Idaho - The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the Idaho Steelheads today announced the 2003-04 regular season playing schedule.
The Steelheads inaugural season with North America's largest professional hockey league, the ECHL, will kick off at home at the Bank of America Centre on Friday, October 17th, 2003 against their Western Division partner, and expansion team, the Las Vegas Wranglers. Idaho's season will end in Fresno on April 2nd, 2004, with the last home game taking place on March 27th, 2004 against the San Diego Gulls.
Idaho will face seven new teams this season, including: At home - Kelly Cup finalist Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (Bullies' GM Matt Loughran is former Steelheads VP/GM); Cincinnati Cyclones; Las Vegas Wranglers; and South Carolina Stingrays. Away - Peoria Rivermen; Dayton Bombers; Cincinnati Cyclones; and Toledo Storm.
Each of the 32 ECHL teams will play 72 games during the season; 36 home games and 36 away. In total, the Steelheads home game schedule includes 4 Tuesdays, 8 Wednesdays, 12 Fridays, 10 Saturdays, and 2 Sunday matchups.
The ECHL will have new alignments for 2003-04 with 19 teams playing in two divisions in the Eastern Conference and 13 teams playing in two divisions in the Western Conference. The playoff format has yet to be determined and will be voted on by the Board of Governors at a later date.
The ECHL conference and division alignments for 03-04 are as follows:
WESTERN CONFERENCE
Eastern Division - Arkansas RiverBlades, Columbus Cottonmouths, Louisiana IceGators, Mississippi Sea Wolves, Pensacola Ice Pilots, and Texas Wildcatters
Western Division - Anchorage Aces, Bakersfield Condors, Fresno Falcons, Idaho Steelheads, Las Vegas Wranglers, Long Beach Ice Dogs, and San Diego Gulls
EASTERN CONFERENCE
Northern Division - Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, Cincinnati Cyclones, Dayton Bombers, Johnstown Chiefs, Peoria Rivermen, Reading Royals, Toledo Storm, Trenton Titans, and Wheeling Nailers
Southern Division - Augusta Lynx, Charlotte Checkers, Columbia Inferno, Florence Pride, Florida Everblades, Greensboro Generals, Greenville Grrrowl, Gwinnett Gladiators, Roanoke Express and South Carolina Stingrays
Season tickets are currently on sale, and great seats are available by calling 331-tixs. (Season ticket prices remain unchanged from the last four years.) Individual game tickets will go on sale in September, 2003.
