
IceDogs Fall to Spirit in Teddy Bear Toss Game

The Niagara IceDogs lost 7-1 to the Saginaw Spirit in their annual teddy bear toss game Saturday night at the Meridian Centre.
Mitchell Stephens opened the scoring for the Spirit when he beat IceDogs goaltender Brandon Hope at 5:52 of the first period.
He added to the lead with his second of the game in the middle frame, before Billy Jenkins answered for the IceDogs causing the teddy bears to rain down onto the ice. Dylan Sadowy made it 3-1 with just over a minute left in the second period.
Stephens completed the hat-trick 1:27 into the third on the power play. Goals from Nick Moutrey, Connor Brown and a fourth from Stephens gave the IceDogs the win.
Hope made 33 saves in the loss, while Spirit goalie David Ovsjannikov stopped 24.
The IceDogs are back in action Thursday night when they host the Owen Sound Attack for the first and only time this season.
