IceDogs and OHL Release 2012/13 Schedule

June 28, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs and the rest of the Ontario Hockey League have released their 2012/13 regular season schedule.

The Niagara IceDogs will open the season at home against the Erie Otters on Thursday, September 20th at 7:00pm. This game will mark the first game of 15-year-old Connor McDavid's OHL career after he was drafted first overall in the latest OHL Priority Selection.

The IceDogs only have one home game in the month of September and will not return to the Jack for their second home game until Thursday, October 4th when they will take on the Mississauga Steelheads for the first time. After being sold in the offseason, the franchise has a new name, logo and jerseys, returning the logo and history of the Majors to St. Michael's College.

It will not take very long to renew hostilities with the Ottawa 67's, the team the IceDogs defeated in the Eastern Conference Championship a year ago, as they will face each other twice in the first four weeks of the season. Niagara will host Ottawa in their third home game of the season on Thursday, October 11th, after having paid their first visit of the season to Scotiabank Place, where the 67's will call home for the next two season, back on September 28th.

Another date to look forward to for IceDog fans, is the annual New Year's Eve Game on December 31st at 6pm when the IceDogs host the Erie Otters. Fans will once again have a chance to close out the year with their favourite IceDogs as they enjoy the game and the post game skate celebration.

IceDogs fans still hot over the loss to London last season will need to be patient as they do not play the Knights until December 7th when they travel to London. Fans will have to wait even longer to see London in Niagara, as the Knights make their lone visit to St. Catharines on Sunday, February 17th.

Overall, the home schedule sees the IceDogs at the Gatorade Garden City Complex for 16 Thursday night home games, 11 Saturday night home games, 4 Sunday afternoon home games, 2 Friday night home games and 1 Monday night home game (New Year's Eve).
