June 28, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the 2012-13 Regular Season Schedule.

The season opens on Thursday, September 20th with four games, including the Eastern Conference Champion Niagara IceDogs hosting the Erie Otters.

The Kitchener Rangers open their 50th season on Friday, September 21 at 7:30pm on the road against the newly re-named Mississauga Steelheads. It is the first of eight consecutive road games for the team as construction is completed on the seating expansion at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

The Rangers will return to The Aud for their home opener on Friday, October 19th at 7:30pm, when they host the Oshawa Generals.

The tradition of Friday nights at The Aud will continue in the expanded arena: the Rangers will play 19 Friday night home games, constituting over 50 percent of the home schedule.

The Ontario Hockey League accommodates the student athlete by scheduling primarily on weekends. In total, 81 percent (55 of 68) of Kitchener's regular season contests will be played between Friday and Sunday.

The overall Rangers home and away schedule breaks down as follows:

DAY # OF GAMES PERCENT OF GAMES

Monday 1 1.5%

Tuesday 5 7.4%

Wednesday 3 4.4%

Thursday 4 5.8%

Friday 25 36.8%

Saturday 14 20.6%

Sunday 16 23.5%

The team will also play six pre-season exhibition contests, beginning on August 31 when they host the QMJHL Rouyn-Noranda Huskies for a 7:30pm game at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. CLICK HERE to see the full exhibition schedule.
