Erie Otters News Release

Akron, Ohio - The Erie SeaWolves (38-39) were unable to overcome a five-run fourth inning by the Akron Aeros, who defeated the SeaWolves at Canal Park Thursday night, 7-1. The loss snapped Erie's seven-game road winning streak, their first loss on the road since June 12.

The SeaWolves scored their only run of the game in the first inning with the bases loaded. Rawley Bishop grounded out to the third baseman Ryan Rohlinger, allowing newly-minted Eastern League All-Star Niuman Romero to score. Bishop collected his 31st run batted in of the season on the play.

Thomas Neal led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run to center field, kicking off a big inning for the Aeros. Matt Lawson broke the tie with a two-run triple and later scored on a single by Jordan Henry. Juan Diaz then laced a single to right field to put Henry across home plate and knock SeaWolves starter Patrick Cooper out of the game.

The Aeros added a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings, as the SeaWolves couldn't solve the tandem of starter Brett Brach and reliever Kyle Landis. Brach (3-3) earned the win for the Aeros after pitching a season-high seven innings, allowing a run on four hits and striking out three. Cooper (2-1) took the loss for the SeaWolves, going three and a third innings and allowing five runs on six hits.

Nick Castellanos had the only multi-hit game for Erie, as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. The SeaWolves look to bounce back in Akron Friday night as they close out the series against the Aeros at 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or online at SeaWolves.com.
