Worcester IceCats News Release
WORCESTER, MA- The Worcester IceCats, in conjunction with WCTR-TV, announced that IceCats Opening Night at Worcester's Centrum Centre will be carried live Saturday, October 11th beginning at 7:00 PM on Charter Communications WCTR-TV 3. The game is being made possible by longtime IceCats partner Peterson Oil Service.
Spearheading the project to bring Opening Night of the IceCats 10th Anniversary Season to 170,000 viewers in Central Massachusetts were IceCats Executive Vice President Kevin Cummings and WCTR-TV Station Manager Bill Jackson.
"The fans are the main reason for the IceCats success and longevity, and we wanted to share this special night with as many of them as possible," remarked Cummings. "Our friends at Peterson Oil Service stepped in and made sure it was a reality."
WCTR-TV is available in 30 communities throughout Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Along with Central Massachusetts' only nightly newscast, WCTR-TV offers coverage of local college and high school football and basketball contests. "Our mission at WCTR-TV is to provide the local community with entertaining and valuable programming. The IceCats fall directly in those categories," said Jackson.
Local sports staple Kevin Shea will provide the play-by-play. He has been covering sports on WCTR-TV for the last six years. Rich Bocchini, color commentator for IceCats radio on WTAG, will provide insight and analysis for the Opening Night telecast.
The game will air live on Saturday October 11th at 7:00 PM. A special re-broadcast can be seen the following afternoon.
