St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - Adam Lowry scored two goals and assisted on another to help the St. John's IceCaps to a 5-4 shootout victory over the Toronto Marlies Saturday night at Mile One Centre.

Kael Mouillierat scored the game-winner in the shootout, while Patrice Cormier and Carl Klingberg had the other goals in regulation for St. John's. Eddie Pasquale was strong between the pipes, making 35 saves - on top of stopping 3-of-4 in the shootout - and Brenden Kichton pitched in with two assists.

Drew MacIntyre turned aside 22 shots in taking the loss. Peter Holland led the way for Toronto with two goals, and Wade MacLeod and T.J. Brennan each scored one.

MacLeod put the Marlies in front 1-0 just 23 seconds into the game, when he picked up the loose disc in front of the goal and backhanded it past a helpless Pasquale.

The IceCaps evened the score at a goal apiece at 3:54, however, when Lowry notched his fifth of the season. After Lowry made a heads-up play to keep the puck in the Marlies' zone, he completed the tic-tac-toe play with Jerome Samson and Lipon by firing it top shelf past MacIntyre.

With Andrew Crescenzi serving a roughing penalty, it was Lowry again who capitalized on the man advantage to put St. John's ahead 2-1 at 17:17. Fighting for territory in front of the net, Lowry stood his ground before redirecting a Will O'Neill shot that beat MacIntyre upstairs to the stick side.

Less than a minute into the second frame, Cormier extended the IceCaps' lead to two. Taking a beautiful feed from Kichton in the corner, Cormier made no mistake in firing his fourth of the season past MacIntyre glove side.

Holland cut the lead to one 3:06 into the third, with Toronto on the power play. Organized in the IceCaps' zone, Holland took a cross-crease feed from Leivo before one-timing it glove side past Pasquale. The IceCaps responded midway through the period, however, when Klingberg restored their lead to two. Charging to the Toronto goal, Lowry dished the puck to Klingberg in front of the net who tapped it through the legs of MacIntyre to make it 4-2.

Shortly after, the Marlies replied with two goals in as many minutes to knot things up 4-4. Brennan brought Toronto back within one at 10:18, when he wired a wrister from the point that sailed into the top corner to the blocker side. Then, at 12:02, Holland flew into the IceCaps' zone and sent a shot on goal that eluded Pasquale over the blocker and trickled into the net.

After a scoreless overtime, Mouillierat scored the shootout winner for the IceCaps. Samson and JC Lipon had the other shootout goals for the IceCaps.

The IceCaps continue their home stand against the Manchester Monarchs next Friday, Saturday, and Monday (7:30 PM NT) at Mile One Centre.
