St. John's IceCaps News Release

The St. John's IceCaps scored a pair of goals on a four-minute powerplay in the second period en route to a 3-1 win over the Manchester Monarchs Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.

Eddie Pasquale was sharp between the pipes for St. John's and had his shutout bid foiled with 53 seconds left in the game.

After a scoreless first period, Monarchs forward Scott Sabourin was nabbed with a four-minute penalty for high sticking IceCaps captain Jason Jaffray late in the second stanza and St. John's made Manchester pay. With Sabourin cooling his heels, Will O'Neill cruised in from the point and converted a feed from behind the net at the 17:23 mark. Patrice Cormier and Kael Mouillierat drew assists. Nearly a minute later, Andrew Gordon snapped a pass in the slot past Monarchs netminder J.F. Berube to give St. John's a 2-0 lead. John Albert and Zach Redmond were awarded assists on the IceCaps second powerplay marker.

The IceCaps increased their lead at 2:48 of the third, as Adam Lowry's floater trickled between Berube's legs. JC Lipon and Carl Klingberg picked up the assists. With Pasquale poised to post the goose egg, Nick Deslauriers scored from the crease with under a minute remaining in the contest.

The IceCaps travel to Springfield, Mass. next to face the Falcons on Tuesday (4:30 PM NT). Catch all the action with broadcaster Brian Rogers at www.stjohnsicecaps.com and 930 AM This is Newfoundland Labrador, or watch online at www.ahllive.com. Pregame show begins a half hour before puck drop.
