
Ice Dogs Win In Wild Finish, 4-3

Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs (30-18-6) won a wild one Saturday night, in a come-from-behind victory over the Phoenix Roadrunners (18-30-3). The Ice Dogs won their 30th game of the season in front of their biggest home crowd of the year, with 4,822 in attendance.
Michael Lambert got the scoring started with an unassisted goal at 11:46 of the first period to give Long Beach the 1-0 lead. Then less than two minutes later, Christian Larrivee scored on the power play from Justin Aikins and Shawn McAslan to give the Ice Dogs a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
In the second period, former Ice Dog Mike Ouellet scored from Mark Wires and Miguel Lafleche to cut the deficit in half until Jean-Francois Soucy tied it up just three minutes later. Paul Ballantyne and Dave Cousineau assisted on the goal. It would be less than two minutes after that when Phoenix scored their third consecutive goal to take a 3-2 lead by Ben Knopp from Jake Riddle and Brad Woods.
The Ice Dogs trailed late in the game until their captain, Sean McAslan, tied the score on the power play at 15:07 of the third from Steeve Villeneuve and Christian Larrivee. Then with just 49 second to go in the game, Cory Urquhart scored the game winner for Long Beach with Larrivee getting his third assist of the game and Lambert also contributing.
Mark Scally started his second consecutive game for the Ice Dogs, this time getting the win with 20 saves. Mike Mole took the loss for Phoenix with 32 saves. The Ice Dogs were 2-4 on the power play while stopping all four of the Roadrunners power play opportunities.
