The Long Beach Ice Dogs scored twice in the final 4:53 to steal a 4-3 win over the Phoenix Roadrunners Saturday night at the Long Beach Arena.

Leading 3-2, Sean McAslan tipped a Steve Villenueve shot past Roadrunners netminder Michael Mole on the power play at 15:07 to knot the score at 3-3. Phoenix was shorthanded as Joe Dusbabek was in the penalty box for a cross-checking minor that proved to be costly as it led to McAslan's 19th of the season.

The Ice Dogs (30-18-6) won the game when Cory Urquhart took a pass from Michael Lambert who was behind the Phoenix net and beat Mole with 48.3 seconds left for the eventual game-winning goal, his 14th of the season. Phoenix (18-30-3) pulled Mole for the extra attacker with 28 seconds left but failed to get the puck past Long Beach netminder Mark Scally.

Those two goals offset a strong Phoenix effort in the second period to rally back from being down 2-0 after 20 minutes.

First, Mike Ouellet bagged his ninth goal of the season when he slid a Justin Quenneville rebound behind Scally at 1:43 to make it a 2-1 game. J.F. Soucy picked up his 10th goal of the year at 4:42 when he stuffed the rebound of a Paul Ballantyne shot and tied the score at 2-2. Phoenix took the lead when Ben Knopp poked home another rebound goal past Scally at 6:36 and had the Roadrunners in the lead at 3-2 and forced Long Beach to call a timeout.

Lambert and Christian Larrivee scored less than two minutes apart to open the scoring in the middle of the first period.

Long Beach outshot Phoenix 37-23 and finished 2-of-4 on the power play. Phoenix put up a goose egg in four power play chances against the league's second-best penalty kill.

Phoenix hosts the Utah Grizzlies Sunday afternoon at US Airways Center to close out a three-game in three-night weekend.
