Ice Dogs Sweep Aces with 7-1 Win

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach Ice Dogs netminder B.J. Boxma stopped 23 of 24 shots for his first win, and Chris Kenady tallied a season-high five points to defeat the Anchorage Aces, 7-1, Saturday night at Long Beach Arena. The Ice Dogs' fourth consecutive win, sweeps a three-game series against Anchorage who now have dropped their seventh in a row.

Four Ice Dogs scored in the third period, including Tomas Hradecky's two goals and Jeff Attard's unassisted goal. Boxma was riding a shutout until Anchorage's Chris Pont scored with 59.1 seconds remaining.

Tomas Kapusta took advantage of an Anchorage interference call with his first power-play goal of the season at 4:23 in the opening period to give the Ice Dogs a 1-0 lead before Kenady, who scored a hat trick on Friday night, scored his first goal of the evening at 15:37 to put the Ice Dogs up by two.

In the second period, Kenady scored his second power-play goal with a re-directed pass from Jamie O'Leary and Tyler Johnston at 13:36. O'Leary recorded his second consecutive multi-assist game with a season-high of four.

Tomas Kapusta scored his second goal of the evening, and second in the final frame, at 5:24.
