November 3, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons' Halloween jersey auction held last night to benefit Crime Stoppers and the Rick Grimsley Trust Fund raised a total of $18,575. The auction items were the jack-o-lantern jerseys that the Taylor Cup Champion Falcons wore during a 6-4 defeat of the San Diego Gulls on Oct. 29.

The jersey of goaltender Terry Friesen netted the evening's largest bid of $4,200. Several other Falcons' sweaters fetched in excess of $1,500, including those of Captain Jason Weaver, Taylor Cup Playoff MVP Kris Porter and enforcer Brad Both.

Six Falcons jersey auctions since St. Patrick's Day of 2001 have raised nearly $100,000. Organizations that have benefited from the proceeds raised by the Falcons and their fans include Arc Fresno, Special Olympics, Poverello House, the New York Police and Fire Widows and Children Benefit Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters and now Crime Stoppers and the Rick Grimsley Trust Fund.

Fresno takes the ice again tomorrow night against the Anchorage Aces after defeating the Idaho Steelheads, 6-2, last night. It is "Guys Night Out" for the 7 p.m. start tomorrow, with all balcony seats costing just $7 apiece. Tickets are available at the Selland Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Discounted tickets for groups of 20 or more are on sale as well. Call the Falcons offices at 485-PUCK (7825) for more information.
