Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – R.J. Enga scored twice and had two assists as the San Diego Gulls defeated the Condors 4-1 on Saturday night in front of 5,414 fans at Centennial Garden. The home team has lost all three games in the season series.

San Diego started the scoring early when Samy Nasraddine blasted home his first of the season at 1:02 of the first period to make it 1-0. The Gulls dominated the first period, extending the lead to 2-0 with Enga's first of the game at 13:29. The Gulls outshot the Condors 16-4 during the first frame.

The Gulls added two more during the second period. Mark Pederson took advantage of a fortunate deflection to slam home his seventh of the year into an open net, and Enga connected on the power play for his second goal of the game and the 4-0 lead. The shots were 27-16 Gulls after 40 minutes.

Bakersfield got on the board in the third period while trying to gain some momentum. Jamie Cooke tipped home a blast from Jon Sorg while on the power play to make it 4-1, but the Condors could get no closer. They held San Diego to just one shot in the final frame, but were outshot 28-22 overall in the game.

San Diego won both games on the Condors home ice in the season series so far, and Bakersfield won the only meeting in San Diego. While none of the three games have been close, each team has scored nine goals in the series.

In other WCHL action tonight, Long Beach handed Anchorage a 7-1 defeat, and Fresno upended Idaho 6-2 at home.
