Alaska Aces News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chris Kenady followed up his four-point evening from the night before with a five-point outing in a 7-1 rout of the Anchorage Aces before 3,585 Saturday night at Long Beach Arena.

Anchorage fell behind for the ninth time in 10 games when Long Beach forward Tomas Kapusta fired a rebound past Aces' goaltender Ryan Person on a power play at 4:23 of the first period. Chris Kenady, who had a hat trick the night before, gave the Ice Dogs a 2-0 edge at 15:37 with a wicked wrist shot that beat Person low glove. Kenady added a power play goal with 6:24 left in the second period as Long Beach took a commanding 3-0 lead into the final 20 minutes.

Kenady continued to torment the Aces with a pair of assists in the third period, the first of which set up a Tomas Hradecky goal just 2:38 into the third period. Kapusta tacked on another power play goal at 5:24 to widen the bulge to 5-0. Hradecky scored his second of the period, the Ice Dogs' fourth power play goal of the game, at 6:46. Jeff Attard spread the gap to 7-0 with a coast-to-coast shorthanded goal at 10:11. Chris Pont spoiled B.J. Boxma's shutout bid with 59.1 seconds left to account for the final margin. Fellow UAA graduate Gregg Zaporzan had an assist on the scoring play, his first point as a professional. Person finished with 33 saves as the Aces were outshot 40-24 in falling to 1-9 on the season.

Kenady finished with two goals and three assists, Jamie O'Leary handed out four assists, and Hradecky had two goals to go along with a helper as Long Beach won its fourth straight to improve to 4-2.

Anchorage will try to snap its seven-game slide in Fresno Monday night at 6:00 p.m. AST. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
