Bandits Steal Win at Fish Tank

For the second straight night, the Jackson Bandits beat the Baton Rouge Kingfish, this time shutting out the Kingfish 2-0, at the Riverside Centroplex.

Jackson opened the scoring at the 15:12 mark of the first period of play as Sean O'Connor took a pass from Scott Kelman and beat Paxton Schafer. Billy Newson set up the goal, the only one the Bandits would need.

John McNabb added an insurance marker early in the third period as he extended the Jackson lead to 2-1. Brian Forslund added an assist on the goal scored just 2:46 into the final stanza.

Eighty minutes of penalties were handed out to both teams in the last 10 seconds of play as tempers ran high. A departure from Saturday's match-up in Jackson that saw a combined 10 minutes in penalties the entire night.

In his best outing yet this season, Paxton Schafer made 28 saves in the losing effort and his record and falls to 2-4-0 on the season.

The Kingfish host the Columbia Inferno on Tuesday at the ‘Fish Tank', a 7:05 p.m. start time. Catch the Kingfish pregame show on Baton Rouge's Best R&B 104.5 WZRB beginning at 6:50 p.m.
