Ice Dogs Fall to Bakersfield, 6-2

LONG BEACH – The Bakersfield Condors (15-23-6) broke out early with four goals in the first 10 minutes to beat the Ice Dogs (14-27-3) 6-2 on Friday in the Long Beach Arena. Todd Alexander beat Ice Dog goaltender Colin Zulianello (7-14-2) with a wraparound goal just 35 seconds into the game.

Four minutes later, Condor left wing Johan Alstrom slapped a long distance blast into the net from outside the right faceoff circle at 4:39. Then Paul Rosebush knocked another one in on a power play at 7:49, with assists from Kevin Riehl and Paul Willet.

Long Beach countered at 8:47, when Trevor Read found John McNabb on the edge of the crease to score the first Ice Dog goal. But the momentum was short-lived, as Bakersfield forward Mike Barrie scored at 9:58, making it 4-1 to close out the first period.In the second period, Condor defenseman Jimmy Drolet passed to Rosebush in front of the net to score at 16:36.

Ice Dog spark plug Alex Kim connected from the right faceoff circle at 1:37 in the third period, set up by assists from Lee Sorochan and McNabb. Bakersfield dashed hopes of an Ice Dog comeback when Astrom converted off a rebound at 9:59, for a final score of 6-2.
