Bakersfield Condors News Release
Long Beach, Calif. â Paul Rosebush and Johan Astrom each scored a pair of goals as the Bakersfield Condors defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs 6-2 in front of 3,773 fans at the Long Beach Arena on Saturday night.
The Condors got off to a furious start, with rookie Todd Alexander scoring on the first shot of the game for Bakersfield. His wraparound tally just 35 seconds in gave him four on the season. Within the next seven minutes, the Condors expanded the lead to 3-0. Johan Astrom tipped home a Quinn Fair shot to make it 2-0, and Paul Rosebush added a power play tally. Long Beach got on the board with a goal from leading scorer John McNabb, but the Condors came right back. Paul Willett recorded his third assist of the night when he helped set up Mike Barrie for the fourth Condors goal of the period â a season high for Bakersfield.
Rosebush added his second of the game on a second period power play for the only goal of the stanza. Willett recorded his fourth assist of the night on the goal, and the Condors captain reached double digits in goals. For the first time since November 23rd â 26 games â the Condors had scored twice on the power play.
The two teams exchanged third period tallies, with Alex Kim scoring for Long Beach and Astrom getting his second of the night for Bakersfield. That brought the score to a 6-2 margin, which ended up being the final. The Condors extended their point lead over Long Beach to five points and over Fresno by seven.
