Gladiators Win fourth Straight with 4-1 win in Greenville

Brandon Dietrich tallied two goals while Kevin Doell extended his point-scoring streak to 13 games with two assists to help the Gladiators past the Greenville Grrrowl 4-1 on Saturday night at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.

Jim Jackson jammed a loose puck in the slot past Greenville goaltender Daniel Boisclair to give the Gladiators an early 1-0 lead. Blue Bennefield and Phil Lewandowski each added an assist on the power play goal at 2:22 of the first period.

Greenville used a power play goal to tie the contest up at one half way through the second period. Michael Chin found a lose puck in the slot and flipped it past Gladiators netminder Trevor Prior. Matt Demarski and Mike Henderson added the assists on the power play goal at 9:15 of the period.

Brandon Dietrich's fifth goal of the season gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead with 4:55 left in the second period. Dietrich took a centering feed from Anthony Aquino and slid into the slot untouched to beat Boisclair. Paul Flache also added an assist on the goal.

Cam Brown pushed the Gladiators lead to 3-1 right as a Gladiators power play expired as he roofed a shot over the shoulder of Boisclair for the goal. With an assist on the goal, Kevin Doell extended his point-scoring streak to 13 consecutive games. Brandon Dietrich also had an assist on the goal at 16:12 of the period.

Greenville tried to pull the netminder at the end of the third period to make up the two-oal disadvantage but Kevin Doell hooked up with Brandon Dietrich for an empty net goal to ice the contest. Dietrich second goal of the contest came at 19:30 of the third period.

Trevor Prior made 28 saves in the win while the Gladiators outshot the Grrrowl by a 35-29 margin in the win and improve to 27-16-4 on the year.
