Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. â The Fresno Falcons rallied to overcome a two-goal deficit in a 1:06 span toward the end of the second period but surrendered two unanswered tallies in the third on their way to losing, 6-4, to the Trenton Titans on Friday at Save Mart Center in front of 4,173.
On the heels of a 3-2 victory over the Falcons on Wednesday, the Titans quickly took advantage of a turnover in the Fresno zone in the game's opening moments when B.J. Kilbourne scored unassisted just seven seconds into the contest. The Falcons got untracked by tying the game at 5:51 of the opening period off a rising blast from Boris Protsenko before taking the lead, 2-1, on the power play at 10:08 with John Wroblewski's seventh of the season. Trenton responded with a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the first from Dan Riva with the extra man at 15:47 and then Ryan Crane at 17:32 to take a 3-2 lead into the intermission.
The Titans extended their lead to a pair after Matt Herneisen finished off a two-on-one rush with Matt Zultek at 11:16 of the second. Fresno stormed from behind, though, with Jason Weaver scoring on the power play off a re-direct at 17:07 and Protsenko notching his second of the evening at 18:13 to send the game to the third tied at four.
The Falcons began the final period with back-to-back power plays but yielded a short-handed marker to Zultek at 2:21 before Trenton's leading active scorer dumped in his second of the night with his club on a two-man advantage at 8:31. Fresno could move no closer despite peppering Titans goaltender Andrew Allen down the stretch.
The loss brings the Falcons' current winless streak at home to six straight, where they haven't won since Jan. 16. The club is 12-29-5 with 29 points and in seventh place in the Pacific Division.
Fresno has another chance to break their Save Mart slide when they take on the Bakersfield Condors tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. The Raiderette cheerleaders will entertain fans throughout tomorrow's contest, for which $10 balcony seats are available in addition to the team's regular seat selection.
Tickets for the game can be purchased at Save Mart Center's box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, which include select Save Mart Supermarkets, Tower Records, Wherehouse Music and Ritmo Latino locations, charged by phone at 485-TIXS or bought online by clicking the Ticketmaster icon throughout www.fresnofalcons.com.
