Ice Dogs Blanked By Ice Pilots, 3-0

LONG BEACH, Calif. – It was a long night for the Long Beach Ice Dogs (25-12-4), who were shutout at home by the Pensacola Ice Pilots (24-11-4). The Ice Dogs had previously beaten Pensacola on Friday night by a score of 4-1, but were unable to get the puck past Frederic Cloutier who finished with 34 saves.

Pensacola scored what turned out to be the game winner just 1:04 into the first period by Tyler Beechey, who is second in the league in scoring. 8:20 into the second period, Corey Neilson scored a power play goal while on a two man advantage. Pensacola added one more at 15:06 of the third period by Chris St. Jaques to make the final score 3-0. Tyler Beechey, who assisted on the other two goals, finished with three points on the night.

Olivier Michaud took the loss for Long Beach, dropping his record to 10-8-3. He made 26 saves in the effort. The Ice Dogs finished 0-7 on the power play while Pensacola converted 1-5. The Ice Dogs remain in second place in the West Division with 54 points and didn't lose any ground since Bakersfield was idle tonight.

The Ice Dogs will head out on the road this week to take on the Bakersfield Condors on Friday and Fresno Falcons on Saturday, before returning home next Sunday to face the Falcons at the Long Beach Arena. For more information, call (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com.
