Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. â It was a long night for the Long Beach Ice Dogs (25-12-4), who were shutout at home by the Pensacola Ice Pilots (24-11-4). The Ice Dogs had previously beaten Pensacola on Friday night by a score of 4-1, but were unable to get the puck past Frederic Cloutier who finished with 34 saves.
Pensacola scored what turned out to be the game winner just 1:04 into the first period by Tyler Beechey, who is second in the league in scoring. 8:20 into the second period, Corey Neilson scored a power play goal while on a two man advantage. Pensacola added one more at 15:06 of the third period by Chris St. Jaques to make the final score 3-0. Tyler Beechey, who assisted on the other two goals, finished with three points on the night.
Olivier Michaud took the loss for Long Beach, dropping his record to 10-8-3. He made 26 saves in the effort. The Ice Dogs finished 0-7 on the power play while Pensacola converted 1-5. The Ice Dogs remain in second place in the West Division with 54 points and didn't lose any ground since Bakersfield was idle tonight.
