January 23, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Boise, Idaho - The Bakersfield Condors scored three times in the second stanza to pace a 4- 2 win over the Idaho Steelheads at the Bank of America Centre on Saturday night.
Idaho took the lead for the second night in a row when Brett Draney's shot hopped off Yutaka Fukufuji's goal stick and fluttered over his shoulder and in for Draney's seventh of the season. The Condors failed to score on three opening period power plays, but took the 10-8 lead in shots during the stanza.
Bakersfield surged back in the second frame, scoring three times to take the lead. Brett Lutes erased the deficit with his 10th goal of the season just 4:17 in, giving the rookie four goals in his last three games. Dylan Mills notched his first goal since joining the team on Wednesday to make it 2-1 near the midway point of the period, and Vlad Serov scored his 11th of the season with less than two minutes left on the board to make it 3-1.
Idaho cut the lead to one with just over four minutes to play with a goal by David Cornacchia, but their hopes were quickly dashed. Lars-Peder Nagel blasted his team-leading 15th goal of the season into their empty net with just seconds remaining in the game. With their 25th win of the season, Bakersfield has matched their win total from last season - with 32 games remaining on the schedule.
Bakersfield returns home to host the Fresno Falcons on Monday, January 24th for a 7:00 p.m. match. That night is Ladies' Night, sponsored by the Groove 99.3. All ladies can purchase 2-for-1 tickets and it will be females-only for all the night's promotions and intermission activities. That night, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Connor James bobblehead doll, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Carl's Jr.
