Memphis reliever Maikel Cleto allowed one run on two hits in eighth inning, while southpaw Clay Zavada surrendered four runs, three earned, on five hits and an error in his one inning of relief. Redbirds starter Brian Broderick suffered his league leading seventh loss, giving up three runs on seven hits over five innings while walking two and striking out two. Iowa starter Brooks Raley notched his first win for the Cubs allowing two runs on six hits over five innings while walking two and striking out two.

The Redbirds welcome Round Rock to town tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The 'Birds are slated to send left-hander John Gast to the hill to face Express righty Neil Ramirez. With the Triple-A affiliates to both teams that participated in the World Series last season, the Redbirds and Express decided to restore the rivalry with some friendly competition. The season-long series loser between the Round Rock Express and the Memphis Redbirds will donate 20 tickets to the winner at their ballpark for the charity of their choice.
