Tucson Padres News Release

Tacoma starter Erasmo Ramirez only allowed one run in 7.1 innings in the Rainiers 4-1 win over the Tucson Padres Monday. Kip Wells suffered his first loss as a Padre, giving up four runs in five innings of work. The Rainiers scored immediately in the first when leadoff hitter Trayvon Robinson hit a home run off the top of the scoreboard in right-center field. The Rainiers added two runs in the second inning when Casper Wells, Vinnie Catricalla and Guillermo Quiroz hit three doubles in a span of four batters.

Robinson hit an RBI single in the fifth to extend Tacoma's lead to four. The T-Pads had only two hits at the end of six innings, but struck two singles to start the seventh. With Jedd Gyorko and Matt Clark on base, Ramirez got Yasmani Grandal to pop out and started a 1-6-3 double play to end Cody Decker's at bat and end the Padres seventh inning chance. Tucson's lone run came in the eighth on Daniel Robertson's RBI single.

Tacoma's win was the 376th in a Rainiers uniform for manager Daren Brown, who became the Tacoma record holder for most managerial wins Monday. The Padres had multiple transactions before the game, adding outfielder Blake Tekotte to the roster after he was optioned from San Diego and also adding pitcher Neil Wagner, who was claimed on waivers from the Oakland Athletics and assigned to Tucson before the game.

Next Game: Tuesday, 7:05 pm at Kino Stadium. Las Vegas TBA vs. Tucson RHP Jorge Reyes (3-5, 4.76). Free tickets available at your local eegee's locations.
