Metairie, LA - Wil Myers collected three hits, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs to push Omaha past New Orleans, 6-3, Monday afternoon in the last of a four-game set at Zephyr Field. The Storm Chasers split the series with the Zephyrs to improve to 31-21 and maintain their seven-game cushion over Iowa as they get ready to begin a 12-game home stand over a 13-day stretch.

Omaha, which had been held to two runs in each of the first three games of the series, struck for a pair in the first inning against spot starter Elih Villanueva on run-scoring hits by Myers and Tony Abreu.

Clint Robinson doubled home Derrick Robinson and Myers scored on an Abreu sacrifice fly to push the margin to 4-0 in the third. Anthony Seratelli then delivered a two-out hit that plated Clint Robinson and spelled the end of the day for Villanueva, who suffered the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits over 2 2/3 innings.

The hosts got a run back in the third on an RBI hit by Mike Cervenak and another in the fourth on a solo home run by Clint Sammons off Jake Odorizzi, who labored through his four-inning turn. The young right-hander yielded six hits, walked two, fanned two and was followed to the hill by Brandon Sisk, who tossed two scoreless innings.

Myers doubled in Derrick Robinson in the top of the seventh to hand a 6-2 advantage to Jeremy Jeffress, who gave up a run-scoring single to Gil Velazquez in the bottom of the frame before setting down the next three hitters to strand two base runners and end the threat. The right-hander recorded the first two outs in the eighth before giving way to Roman Colon, who worked around two base runners in the ninth to register his second save.

The Storm Chasers open a four-game series Tuesday evening with left-hander Jonathan Sanchez making a major league rehabilitation start against Iowa southpaw Chris Rusin. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:15 pm on AM 1180 and online at omahastormchasers.com.
