NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former Nashville Sounds infielder Brooks Conrad, who was promoted to the Milwaukee Brewers this morning, has been named the Pacific Coast League's Batter of the Week for the May 21-27 period.

The red-hot veteran posted a .417 average (10-for-24) with a league-leading five home runs and 15 RBIs in six games over the seven-day span to earn his second call-up this season.

Conrad clubbed his team-leading 10th homer of the year on Saturday night at Greer Stadium to extend his current hitting streak to 16 games. The 16-game hit streak is the 9th-longest in the PCL this season and the longest by a Sounds player since Joe Koshansky hit in 18 consecutive contests to close out the 2010 campaign.

Dating back to his first stint with Nashville, Conrad has recorded an extra-base hit in 10 consecutive games (8 HR, 3B, 2B) from April 28 through today's callup, including home runs in eight of his last nine contests for the Sounds. It is tied for the second-longest extra-base hit streak in the PCL since 2005 behind Scott Seabol's 11-game effort from May 1-15, 2005 for Memphis. Taylor Green recorded an extra-base knock in 10 straight games for the Sounds from June 4-15 last season (4 HR, 7 2B).

Overall, Conrad has batted .405 (30-for-74) with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in 21 games for Nashville this season.

Conrad's award is the first accumulated by a Sounds player during the 2012 season and the first PCL honor given to a Nashville batter since Jason Bourgeois in 2009 (June 8-14 period).

The award is the third weekly honor of Conrad's 12-year career. He was previously honored twice by the Texas League in 2004.
