Reno Aces News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Trevor Bauer delivered a quality start, and Randy Ruiz and Ryan Wheeler homered, as the Reno Aces defeated the Sacramento River Cats 10-2 in the series finale Monday afternoon at Raley Field.
The Aces pushed across five runs in the second inning, and that was all the cushion Bauer and the Reno bullpen would need. With the victory, the Aces sealed a series split and maintained their perch atop of the Pacific North Division standings.
Bauer (2-0) earned his second Triple-A win in his third start for Reno, scattering two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts over six innings of work. After his exit, Sam Demel worked a scoreless seventh, Mike DeMark dealt a spotless eighth, and Joe Paterson and Jonathan Albaladejo combined to strike out the side and finish the proceedings in the ninth.
The loss fell to River Cats starter Fabio Castro (2-5), who allowed five runs before being lifted in the second inning.
At the plate for Reno, Ruiz finished with four hits and drove in his league-leading 47th and 48th runs of the season. Wheeler fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in three runs. Adam Eaton and Jake Elmore each collected two hits on the day, keeping their respective batting averages north of the .400 mark. A.J. Pollock and Cole Gillespie added multi-hit efforts in a 17-hit Aces attack.
The Aces now head back to home to kick-off a four-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers at Aces Ballpark. In Tuesday's opener, RHP Joe Martinez (2-3, 5.87 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while RHP Andrew Carraway (2-0, 2.21 ERA) counters for Tacoma. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and it's another 2-for-$22 Tuesday, with two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas available for just $22.
Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
