Hustle Use Late Rally to Fend off Stars

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars erased a 17-point lead, cutting it down to two points, with 10:38 left in the fourth quarter before the Memphis Hustle put together a 16-2 run, helping them to a 124-112 victory in front of their home crowd at the Landers Center on Wednesday night.

The Hustle started the game red-hot, shooting 75 percent (15-of-20) from the field in the opening quarter. While the Stars were unable to match the Hustle's efficiency in the first, Carsen Edwards kept the Stars in the game, scoring 17 of his game-high 35 points in the period as Memphis led Salt Lake City 39-31 heading into the second.

Jared Wilson-Frame found his rhythm in the third quarter as he was able to score 16 points, including 3-of-4 shots from deep. Wilson-Frame finished the night with 28 points, six rebounds and six assists.

The Stars put forth a valiant come-from-behind effort in the closing period, but Shaq Buchanan and the Hustle were able to hit timely buckets and pull away from the Stars down the stretch. Buchanan scored 10 of his team-high 21 points in the frame.

Yoeli Childs was a force on the interior for Salt Lake City as the big man tallied 27 points, 16 rebounds and two blocked shots. Childs has posted a double-double in four of his last five outings.

Ahmad Caver led the way for Memphis, scoring 21 points to go along with seven rebounds, 11 assists and three blocked shots. Santi Aldama chipped in 20 points and Sean McDermott (17 points) and Freddie Gillespie (12 points) combined for 29 points off the bench for the Hustle. Memphis' second unit outscored Salt Lake City's bench 35-4.

Having completed a six-game road trip, the Stars will head home to host the Oklahoma City Blue at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at Vivint Arena, the home of the Utah Jazz.

Saturday night's game, presented by Wasatch I.T., will be "Star Wars Night." Throughout the evening, numerous Star Wars characters will be on hand to take photos and interact with fans. The first 500 fans to arrive at Vivint Arena will receive Salt Lake City Stars light-up LED sticks.
