June 14, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Duluth Huskies News Release
The Duluth Huskies rallied from an early deficit to top La Crosse 6-2 on Thursday night at Copeland Park. A solo homerun by Brandon Raquet in the bottom of the first inning and an unearned run in the third gave the Loggers an early two-run advantage. La Crosse starting pitching Christian Roa did not allow a baserunner through the first four innings but gave up a single and a walk to start the fifth. Trevin Esquerra delivered an RBI single before Kyle Jacobsen launched a three-run homerun over the left field fence. Augie Isaacson stole home, putting Duluth ahead by three runs before the Loggers could get out of the inning.
Isaacson walked to lead off the eighth inning and stole second base before being driven in by Nick Sogard. The Loggers never got a baserunner past first base after the third inning.
Isaacson finished 2-3 with three stolen bases to lead the Huskies offensively. Hunter Bigge (1-0) allowed one earned run in eight innings and struck out nine. Bigge and relief pitcher Levi Shandrew combined for ten strikeouts and did not issue a walk.
Duluth now stands at 12-5 while La Crosse falls to 9-7 on the year. The Huskies now hold a two-game lead in the North Division with Bismarck and Mankato both losing on Thursday. The Huskies close the two-game series at La Crosse on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
