Hurricanes Recall Goaltender Justin Peters From Albany

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Justin Peters from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate move, the River Rats have signed goaltender Ryan Mior to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Peters, 23, saw his first NHL action during his last recall, earning victories against the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils. The Blyth, Ont., native went 2-0-0 with a 1.51 goals-against average and.950 save percentage in his first two NHL starts. Peters (6'1", 213 lbs.) is 22-16-3 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a.915 save percentage in 41 AHL games with Albany this season. The Hurricanes drafted Peters in the second round, 38th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Mior, 22, shows a 3.23 GAA with a 0.899 save percentage and an 11-11-3 record in 26 games this season with the Dayton Gems of the International Hockey League (IHL). The St. John's, NFLD., native made his AHL debut on December 2nd with Rochester and went 3-4-0 with a 3.03 GAA and a 0.907 save percentage in seven appearances with the Americans. Mior (5'11", 181 lbs.) split four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) between Prince Edward Island and Gatineau, and made his professional debut in 2008 with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League.
