Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON - D Andrew Hutchinson and LW Francis Wathier each had a goal and an assist as the Texas Stars (33-21-3-4) defeated the Houston Aeros (28-27-6-1) 5-2 in front of 8,711 at Toyota Center Saturday night. Defensemen Jamie Fraser and Jaime Sifers each scored for the Aeros and G Wade Dubielewicz (12-12-0) gave up three goals on three shots faced to get saddled with the loss. Former Aeros G Matt Climie (16-14-3) made 31 saves to earn his 16th victory of the season.

The Aeros gave up their seventh consecutive first goal when Wathier tipped in a point bid off the stick of D Garrett Stafford for a power play goal at 2:04. Fraser wristed home a rebound opportunity that trickled out to the left faceoff circle 1:20 later to tie the game. The goal is the second in as many games for Fraser to extend his point streak to a season-high four games (2-2=4).

Texas retook the lead at the 5:05 mark off a one-timer from Hutchinson that beat Dubielewicz stick-side then extended the lead to 3-1 off F Mathieu Tousignant's third of the season at 14:38. Dubielewicz was pulled from the game in favor of G Barry Brust following the goal as the Stars scored three goals on their only three shots of the opening frame.

The Stars kept their foot on the gas scoring another power play goal 3:42 into the second period. Wathier fed D Dan Jancevski on a 2-on-1 who beat Brust five-hole for his second goal of the campaign. Meanwhile, the Aeros were held scoreless in the middle session going 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Aeros cut the lead to 4-2 off a short-handed goal from Sifers at 15:43 of the third period, but Texas C Perttu Lindgren matched the score with an empty-net-goal with 56 seconds left in regulation to seal it for the Stars.

The Aeros outshot Texas 33-18 and went scoreless on eight power play chances, the most they've had in the season series. The Stars went 2-for-7 on the man advantage for the second time in as many nights against Houston. Brust finished the night saving 13 of 14 shots faced.
