Canucks Recall Nolan Baumgartner

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, today announced they have recalled defenseman Nolan Baumgartner.

Baumgartner, 33, has played in eight games with Vancouver this season. In that span, he has scored one goal (Feb. 12 @ Columbus). Baumgartner has also appeared in 37 games this season with the Moose where he has accumulated 12 points (3g & 9a) along with 22 penalty minutes. He scored five points (2g & 3a) after being re-assigned to the Moose for the Olympic break on Feb. 15/10.

Last season, the assistant captain appeared in 72 games with the club. In that time, the Calgary, AB native collected 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points and 50 penalty minutes. Baumgartner played in 22 games in Manitoba's 2009 Calder Cup run where he collected five assists and 22 penalty minutes. Overall, he has played in 752 career games in the American Hockey League since 1996 where he's collected 77 goals and 262 assists for 339 points and 748 penalty minutes with Iowa, the Philadelphia Phantoms, Manitoba, Norfolk, and Portland.

Baumgartner has also played in 139 career NHL games with Dallas, the Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Washington. In that time, he's scored seven goals and 39 assists for 46 points and 67 penalty minutes. His most productive season was in 2005-06 when he played in 70 games with the Canucks and scored five goals and 29 assists for 34 points and 30 penalty minutes.

Baumgartner was originally drafted in the first round, 10th overall, by the Washington Capitals in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
