5 Things to Know about #HOUvFCD

Year of the Derby

Wednesday's game will be the third Texas Derby of the season already. Dallas and Houston played to a scoreless draw at BBVA Stadium in August and FCD earned a 2-1 victory over their rivals last month at Toyota Stadium. In all, Dallas and Houston will face each other four times during the regular season, the most Texas Derby matchups in one year since 2007. The final derby of the year will take place on Halloween at Toyota Stadium at 2:30PM.

Barrios' Derby

Winger Michael Barrios is tied with Kenny Cooper for FC Dallas' highest scorer in the Texas Derby with five goals all-time against the Dynamo. The ever-present Colombian scored his first goal of the season on Saturday against Columbus, ending a scoreless run of 13 games. Now with his favorite opponent in the crosshairs, Barrios will look to build on his breakout goal this Wednesday in Houston.

Hollingshead Steps Up

Defender Ryan Hollingshead arguably had his best game of the season so far in Dallas' 2-2 stalemate with Columbus over the weekend. The 29-year-old UCLA product registered team-highs in clearances (4), tackles (3) and shots (3), earning a spot on the MLS Team of the Week bench for his troubles. Hollingshead finished as the highest scoring defender in the league last season, and if he can build on Saturday's performance and recapture his blistering form from 2019, Houston could have their hands full on their right flank.

Against Houston

FC Dallas is 12-11-14 (58 goals for, 52 against) all-time against Houston since 2006. When playing away in Houston, FCD has a 4-8-7 (27 goals for, 30 against) overall record. Last time at BBVA Stadium, the teams played to a scoreless draw before Dallas won 2-1 at Toyota Stadium last month.

About Houston

Houston's three victories this season all came during a three-game win streak back in early September. Tab Ramos' team is currently on six-game winless run since then, a streak that includes their 2-1 loss to FCD in the previous derby. In its last outing, Houston fell 2-1 at home to Sporting KC. Dynamo forward Darwin Quintero has been among the hottest forwards in the league this year, registering five goals and eight assists in just 14 games.
