Hot Rods Can't Get Offense in Gear, Fall To Cubs 3-0

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods were shutout to finish up a quick two game home stand with the South Bend Cubs by a score of 3-0.

The Cubs got on the board in the very first inning when 2B Christian Donahue worked a one out walk, and then scored on a single from C Miguel Amaya brought him home to make the game 1-0.

The Cubs added on their second run in the third inning when 1B Jared Young hit a solo home run to make 2-0. They got their third and final run in the sixth inning when SS Rafael Narea brought home LF Brandon Hughes with a sac fly.

For the Hot Rods RHP Alex Valverde got the start and threw five innings and allowed six hits, two runs, three walks, and he struck out two. RHP Mikey York was first out of the pen and he threw three innings and allowed just two hits, one unearned run, and struck out six.

The Hot Rods will head back to the state of Indiana tomorrow, to start a four game series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps. First pitch will be at 6:05pm CST tomorrow from Fort Wayne. The starters have yet to be announced for the series.
