Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Davenport, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits were limited to just two hits and their ninth inning rally was thwarted by the Beloit Snappers as they fell 2-1 in the series finale on Thursday at Modern Woodmen Park. The two hits matched a season-low for the River Bandits.

The game remained scoreless entering the eighth inning when Brendan Feldmann entered from the bullpen. He allowed a one-out single to catcher Jordan Devencenzi and then made an errant pickoff throw that allowed the Beloit runner to advance to second base. Following a strikeout, Ryan Gridley lined a two out double over the head of left fielder Seth Beer to give the Snappers a 1-0 lead.

The lead doubled when Mickey McDonald launched a leadoff home run off of reliever Dariel Aquino to open the ninth inning. The home run was McDonald's first of the campaign.

The Bandits pushed across a run in the bottom half and threatened to do more damage, but fell short in the end. Miguelangel Sierra opened the inning with an infield single, moved to second when Logan Mattix was hit by a pitch and then made it to third on Colton Shaver's double play groundout back to the mound. A passed ball allowed Sierra to race home from third and cut the deficit to one. The next two hitters, Chandler Taylor and Scott Schreiber, reached on walks to put the tying run on in scoring position. However, Jonathan Lacroix struck out against Nick Highberger to end the game.

Chad Donato, the River Bandits starter, worked 5.0 scoreless innings during which he allowed five hits and walked a pair. He struck out six in the outing. Willy Collado followed with 2.0 scoreless innings of his own. He surrendered a pair of hits and walked one while striking out three. Feldmann struck out the side in the eighth, but gave up one run on two hits. Aquino allowed the home run to McDonald and walked a batter in the ninth.

The River Bandits (6-8, 46-38) open a new series at Modern Woodmen Park on Friday night against the Burlington Bees at 6:35 p.m. LHP Parker Mushinski (3-2, 3.21) will work for the River Bandits opposite Burlington RHP Oliver Ortega (3-4, 4.05). There will be post-game fireworks presented by Smart Toyota and the first 1,200 fans through the gate will receive a Houston Astros 2017 World Series replica ring presented by the Illinois Farm Bureau.

All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
