Hot Month Continues as Curve Win in Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Altoona Curve kept their June momentum rolling in a 6-2 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Friday at NYSEG Stadium.
With the victory, the Curve (33-31) are now 10-3 in the month of June and have won six of their last seven games.
Altoona broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth after the Rumble Ponies (33-28) tied the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth. Consecutive singles by Jerrick Suiter and Hunter Owen started the sixth and both runners were bunted over by Bligh Madris. Jason Delay then came through with a productive ground out that scored Suiter and the Curve jumped ahead for good.
Delay also brought a run around during Altoona's two-run fourth after Madris pushed the first run across on a single to right.
Robbie Glendinning opened up the lead to three runs when he hit a towering two-run homer over the right field wall. Friday's contest was Glendinning's first game with the Curve since April 17 following a promotion from A-Adv. Bradenton on Wednesday.
Suiter and Glendinning each collected two hits in the win while Owen reached base all four times he came the plate with two singles, a double and a walk. Owen's lead-off double in the eighth paired with a two-base hit by Bralin Jackson padded the Curve lead to 6-2.
Curve starter Domingo Robles exited with two outs in the fifth after a game-tying RBI single by Ali Sanchez. Robles threw 101 pitches through 4.2 innings and walked three. It was the first time at Double-A or A-Adv. This season that Robles failed to complete five innings. Two of his three walks came with two outs in the fifth and set up the hit by Sanchez that tied the contest.
Blake Cederlind (Win, 2-0) picked up the final out in the fifth and tossed a scoreless sixth inning after the Curve regained the lead. Angel German, Joel Cesar and Austin Coley each worked scoreless innings to uphold the victory for Cederlind.
The Rumble Ponies left at least one baserunner on base in each inning except a 1-2-3 first by Robles. Binghamton stranded 13 runners total and went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
The Curve return home on Monday for a three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators that features Daily Value Promotions and Wednesday night fireworks.
