GREENSBORO, NC - The Hickory Crawdads attempted a late-game comeback with five runs in the seventh, but fell, 11-7, against the Greensboro Grasshoppers before 5,664 fans at NewBridge Bank Park on Friday night.

The Grasshoppers (16-19) got off to a quick start with six runs in the first four innings against Hickory starter RHP Neil Ramirez. They plated one in the second, before stretching the lead to 6-0 with five in the fourth.

Hickory (21-14) got on the board with a two-out rally in the top of the fifth. RF Jared Prince drew a walk to keep the inning going and CF Miguel Velazquez followed with a double. DH Vinny DiFazio then brought both in with a single to right field, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

However, Greensboro responded with five more in the fifth and the sixth against the 'Dads bullpen to go ahead, 11-2. The Crawdads refused to go away, coming back with their five-run inning in the seventh to get back in the game.

The inning started with an infield single by SS Leury Garcia, who extended his hitting streak to eight games. Prince then belted a two-run homer to left and Velazquez double again to keep the momentum going. 3B Ed Koncel drove in Velazquez with a one-out RBI double and trotted home on a two-out, two-run home run by C Zach Zaneski to make it just a four-run deficit.

Grasshoppers RHP Sandy Rosario, though, tossed two scoreless innings to close out the 11-7 win for Greensboro. Starter RHP Curtis Petersen got the win for the Grasshoppers, while Ramirez was tagged with the loss for Hickory.
