
Home of the Black Bears Voted Ballpark Digest's Short-Season A's 'Best Ballpark'

Granville, WV--Monongalia County Ballpark, home of the West Virginia Black Bears, has been voted the 'Best Ballpark' among short-season class A ballparks in a contest held by Ballpark Digest. Beating Bowman Field, home of the Williamsport Crosscutters, Monongalia County Ballpark captured 87% of the votes from fans to earn the honor.
The contest consisted of the 32 ballparks in the league in each classification, which were broken down into their minor league classifications, with Monongalia County Ballpark competing against the ballparks from the eight leagues at the short season class A level.
Initially, the ballparks were ranked before the contest and Monongalia County Ballpark was ranked at the No. 7 spot. There were five total rounds of the bracket style contest and the Black Bears received a first-round bye.
In Round 2, Monongalia County Ballpark went up against No. 10 ranked Avista Stadium, home of the Spokane Indians, and took 55% of the votes. In the Third Round, the Black Bears defeated No. 13 ranked Dutchess Stadium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades, before beating the No. 6 ranked Centennial Field, home of the Vermont Lake Monsters in the semifinals.
The Black Bears return home to Monongalia County Ballpark for a three-game series against the Hudson Valley Renegades on Sunday, June 28 with a scheduled start time of 4:05.
