Holmqvist added to PlanetUSA All-Star Team

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Mighty Ducks left wing Michael Holmqvist has been selected to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team, the American Hockey League announced earlier today. Holmqvist has been added to the team due to injuries.

The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will take place February 13-14 at the Verizon Arena in Manchester, N.H. and will be broadcast live to nearly 150 million households across the United States and Canada. The All-Star game February 14 will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Rogers Sportsnet at 7 p.m. (EST) with the PlanetUSA squad facing the Canadian team.

Holmqvist, 25, has played in 51 games with Cincinnati this season, recording 34 points on 11 goals and 23 assists with 84 penalty minutes. He leads the team in assists, is second in points and tied for third in goals. The native of Stockholm, Sweden is in his second season with Cincinnati after being selected in the first round (18th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by Anaheim.

Cincinnati right wing Joffrey Lupul was selected to the Canadian team but will miss the event due to injury.
