Penguins recall defenseman Drew Fata from Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today recalled defenseman Drew Fata from their ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers.

Fata, 22, has appeared in 14 games with the Nailers this season, recording one assist and 39 penalty minutes. In 19 games with the Penguins this season, he has collected two points (1+1) and 52 penalty minutes.

The 6'1", 209-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round (86TH overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

With the roster move, the Penguins now have 25 players on their roster – three goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards. David Koci (suspension), Mike Sgroi (eye), Guillaume Lefebvre (wrist) and Andy Chiodo (ankle) are all out of the lineup.

The Penguins (25-13-5-6, 61 points; T-1ST-Place, East Division) return to action on Friday when they host the Hershey Bears (25-23-1-0, 51 points; 5TH-Place, East Division) at 7:05 p.m. at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.

Approximately 72 tickets are still available for the game. The first 5,000 fans through the gates on Friday will receive a Michel Ouellet poster, compliments of McCarthy Tire.
